Which player has won the Conn Smythe Trophy with two different teams?

The story behind the answer

Patrick Roy is the player who won the Conn Smythe Trophy with two different teams.

Roy won the playoff MVP award three times: with the Montreal Canadiens in 1986 and 1993, and with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001. Those victories make him the only player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy for more than one franchise, as well as the only three-time winner. He also won the Stanley Cup twice with each of those clubs.

The trophy is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup playoffs, not necessarily to a player from the championship team. Roy’s first win came when he was only 20 years old, helping Montreal defeat the Calgary Flames in the 1986 Final. His 1993 award followed another Montreal championship, while his 2001 honor came after Colorado defeated the New Jersey Devils. Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby each won the trophy twice, but each did so with the same team.
