Which Pixar Cars character was once a famous Hudson Hornet racer?

The story behind the answer

Doc Hudson was once a famous Hudson Hornet racer in Pixar's Cars.

Before settling in Radiator Springs, Doc competed as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. He won three Piston Cup championships in the 1950s and became one of the most respected racers of his era. A crash and the dismissive treatment he received afterward led him away from professional racing.

In the present-day story, Doc serves as Radiator Springs' physician and judge. He initially resents Lightning McQueen's careless attitude, but gradually becomes a mentor who teaches him that racing skill is not enough without humility and respect.

Doc is voiced by Paul Newman, whose own career included major film roles and a well-known interest in auto racing. The character is based on a real Hudson Hornet model, but Doc himself is fictional. Strip Weathers is another legendary racer, while Louise Nash is a different Hudson Hornet character introduced later.
