Bryce Harper started in right field rather than at designated hitter for the Phillies in the 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams Game.
Philadelphia slightly adjusted its usual lineup against right-handed pitching for the special matchup. Harper, who had been dealing with a sore left knee, started defensively in right field instead of serving as the designated hitter.
The change placed Harper in the field for a game built around the visual traditions of baseball and the Field of Dreams film. It also allowed the Phillies to use their regular offensive personnel while arranging the defensive alignment around the matchup with Twins starter Taj Bradley.
Harper’s role should not be confused with Kyle Schwarber’s offensive performance. Schwarber hit two home runs in the 7–1 win, while Harper’s notable pregame contribution included custom corn-themed equipment.
