Byron Buxton returned from the injured list before the 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams Game.
The Minnesota center fielder was activated before the club faced Philadelphia in Dyersville. He then occupied the second spot in the Twins’ starting lineup behind leadoff hitter Trevor Larnach.
Buxton was one of Minnesota’s most recognizable players and a central figure in the club’s presentation of the game. During the pregame ceremony, he joined Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber near home plate to address the crowd after players and coaches emerged from the corn.
The activation detail is separate from Buxton’s batting position and from his defensive role. He was listed in the two-hole and played center field, while the injured-list transaction occurred before the game. Philadelphia won the contest 7–1, so Buxton’s return did not prevent the Twins from losing the event’s third MLB edition.
