Hermès launched Un Jardin sur le Nil, the fragrance introduced in 2005.
Un Jardin sur le Nil was created by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena for Hermès. The name translates as “A Garden on the Nile,” and the fragrance was inspired by a garden journey along the Nile in Egypt. Its composition is known for combining green mango, grapefruit, tomato, carrot, lotus, calamus, incense and sycamore.
The scent belongs to Hermès’s Un Jardin collection, which presents landscape-inspired fragrances rather than focusing only on a single traditional flower or ingredient. Its fresh, green character made it a notable example of Ellena’s restrained and transparent style.
Un Jardin sur le Nil is sometimes confused with Un Jardin en Méditerranée or Un Jardin après la Mousson. Those are separate Hermès garden fragrances inspired by different places and launched at different times.
