Rex is the PAW Patrol pup who is a Bernese Mountain Dog specializing in dinosaur rescues.
Rex was introduced in the sixth-season story arc “Dino Rescue,” in which the team travels to a prehistoric-themed setting and encounters dinosaurs. He uses a wheelchair because his back legs are paralyzed, but this does not prevent him from taking part in rescue missions.
Rex’s expertise is dinosaur behavior and care, making him especially useful during missions involving the creatures. His vehicle and equipment are adapted for navigating the Dino Wilds. He is separate from Tracker, the Chihuahua associated with jungle missions, and Everest, the Siberian Husky who specializes in snow and ice rescues.
Rex is sometimes confused with other later PAW Patrol additions because several pups have specialized mission themes. His defining combination is his Bernese Mountain Dog breed and his dinosaur-rescue role.
