The Grand Palais became known for hosting Chanel's runway shows before its 2020 closure for renovation.
The Grand Palais is a large historic exhibition hall on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Its glass roof and monumental interior made it one of the most recognizable venues on the international fashion calendar.
Chanel repeatedly transformed the building for its runway presentations, constructing elaborate sets such as a supermarket, an airport terminal and a beach. These installations made the venue part of the collection's visual storytelling rather than merely a backdrop.
The building closed in December 2020 for a major restoration and modernization project. Chanel subsequently used other Paris locations, including the Grand Palais Éphémère, a temporary structure on the Champ de Mars. The Grand Palais is not Chanel's headquarters; it is a public cultural and exhibition venue.
