Which Paris museum is entirely dedicated to Yves Saint Laurent?

The story behind the answer

Which Paris museum is entirely dedicated to Yves Saint Laurent? The answer is Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris.

The museum opened in October 2017 at 5 Avenue Marceau, in the 16th arrondissement. It occupies the historic Paris headquarters of Yves Saint Laurent’s haute couture house, where the designer and his team worked for decades. The building therefore serves as both an exhibition space and a significant part of the story.

Its collection comes from the Fondation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent and includes thousands of sketches, garments, textiles, accessories, photographs, and documents. Visitors can also see a reconstruction of Saint Laurent’s former studio, preserved much as it was after the couture house closed.

A common mix-up is Palais Galliera, which is Paris’s major fashion museum but is not devoted exclusively to Saint Laurent. The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris is also distinct from the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech, which opened in Morocco in 2017 and presents another part of the foundation’s collection.
