Which Oxford university group included J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis?

The story behind the answer

J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis belonged to the Oxford literary group known as the Inklings.

The Inklings were an informal discussion and reading group rather than a university society with a strict membership list. Writers and academics met mainly at Oxford’s Eagle and Child pub, nicknamed the Bird and Baby, and in Lewis’s rooms at Magdalen College. Members read drafts aloud and discussed literature, religion, and imaginative writing.

Tolkien read portions of The Lord of the Rings to the group during its long composition. Lewis was an important friend and an enthusiastic early listener, although their relationship later became more distant. The Inklings are often confused with formal literary movements, but they were primarily a circle of friends and colleagues sharing unfinished work.
