Which Oxford college did C.S. Lewis tutor at from 1925?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis tutored at Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1925.

Lewis was elected a Fellow and tutor in English at Magdalen College in 1925. He remained there for nearly three decades, teaching students and developing the scholarly reputation that eventually led to his Cambridge appointment. His Oxford years included the publication of major works of literary criticism, apologetics, and fiction.

Magdalen College was also central to Lewis’s social world. He regularly walked and talked with fellow writers and academics, and his Oxford friendships helped shape the discussions associated with the Inklings. The college’s grounds and riverside walks became part of the landscape remembered by his friends and biographers.

Magdalen is sometimes confused with Cambridge’s Magdalene College. The Oxford institution is spelled Magdalen, without a final “e,” and was Lewis’s academic home before he became a Cambridge professor.
