Which original Dragons' Den investor was the founder of Yo! Sushi?
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Simon Woodroffe was the founder of Yo! Sushi and an original Dragons' Den investor.
Woodroffe founded Yo! Sushi in 1997, introducing a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant concept to Britain. The business became known for serving dishes on a moving conveyor, allowing customers to choose food as it passed their table.
He joined the original five-investor panel when Dragons' Den launched in 2005. His background gave him experience in hospitality, branding and consumer-facing business, all of which were relevant to evaluating contestants' ideas.
Theo Paphitis, Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne were also members of the first panel, but they founded or built different businesses. The key identification is the connection between the dragon and Yo! Sushi, not the later investment stories shown on the programme.
