Which original Dragon's Den investor was also the founder of the Yo! Sushi restaurant chain?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe was the original Dragon's Den investor who founded the Yo! Sushi restaurant chain.

Woodroffe established Yo! Sushi in London in 1997. The restaurants became associated with conveyor-belt service, allowing customers to choose dishes as they circulated past them. The concept helped make sushi more accessible to a wider British audience and became one of Woodroffe's best-known entrepreneurial achievements.

He was part of the original investor panel when the British Dragon's Den began. The other original Dragons included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh and Doug Richard. Woodroffe later left the regular panel, so viewers who mainly know later line-ups may not immediately connect him with the programme.

Yo! Sushi is sometimes treated as though its name refers only to a restaurant brand, but the business was also an important example of Woodroffe's approach to customer experience and distinctive service design. His Dragon's Den role followed that entrepreneurial background.
