Which original Dragons' Den investor remains the longest-serving dragon on the British panel?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones remains the longest-serving dragon on the British Dragons' Den panel.

Jones was part of the original investor lineup when the BBC series launched in 2005. The first panel also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Theo Paphitis and John Caudwell. Unlike those other original investors, Jones continued as a regular dragon across the programme's later panel changes.

His business interests include technology, media, leisure and property. On the show, he is particularly associated with backing consumer products and technology businesses, although his investments have covered many sectors. His height and distinctive style have also made him one of the most recognisable figures in the series.

A common mix-up is to identify Theo Paphitis or Duncan Bannatyne because both were prominent early dragons. They were original investors, but neither has served continuously as the British show's longest-running panel member.
