Which original Dragons' Den investor founded the YO! brand?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe founded the YO! brand.

Woodroffe created the YO! brand through Yo! Sushi, the Japanese restaurant business he launched in London in 1997. The brand became known for energetic visual design, conveyor-belt service and a modern approach to Japanese food in Britain.

Woodroffe’s role on Dragons' Den reflected his experience in inventing and marketing consumer concepts rather than simply operating a conventional restaurant. He was among the five investors in the original British panel and brought a strong interest in ideas that could be made distinctive and commercially memorable.

The wording “YO! brand” is broader than the restaurant name alone. Yo! Sushi was the original flagship concept, while the brand later became associated with additional food and hospitality ventures. The answer is not Peter Jones or another original Dragon: those investors had separate businesses and did not found the YO! identity.
