Which original Dragons' Den investor founded the Japanese-style restaurant chain Yo! Sushi?
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Simon Woodroffe was the original Dragons' Den investor who founded the Japanese-style restaurant chain Yo! Sushi.
Woodroffe launched Yo! Sushi in London in 1997. The restaurants became known for serving dishes from a conveyor belt, allowing customers to select food as it passed their table. The concept helped make sushi more accessible to a broad British audience.
He joined the original Dragons' Den panel when the British programme began in 2005. His background differed from that of some fellow dragons because it was rooted in hospitality, design and entrepreneurial ventures rather than primarily in retail or investment finance.
A common mix-up is to attribute Yo! Sushi to one of the other original investors. Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis and Duncan Bannatyne were also prominent members of the early panel, but Yo! Sushi was founded by Woodroffe.
