Which original Dragons' Den investor founded the holiday business Red Letter Days?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh founded the holiday and experience business Red Letter Days and was an original Dragons' Den investor.

Elnaugh established Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts such as leisure activities and special occasions. The business became well known for packaging experiences as presents rather than selling only physical products.

She joined the first Dragons' Den panel when the British programme launched in 2005. Elnaugh left the regular panel after the first series, so she is an original Dragon but not one of the investors who remained throughout the programme.

The business later experienced financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. Red Letter Days was subsequently acquired by Peter Jones, linking two names from the show’s earliest history. This background is why Elnaugh’s Dragons' Den role is often discussed alongside the company’s rise and collapse.
