Which original Dragon founded the business website School for Startups?

The story behind the answer

Doug Richard founded the business website School for Startups.

Richard is an American entrepreneur and educator who became one of the original Dragons on the British programme. He founded School for Startups to provide practical guidance, training and resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

His time on Dragon's Den was relatively early in the programme’s history, and he left the panel after the initial series. This makes him easy to confuse with Simon Woodroffe, another original Dragon who also departed, or Peter Jones, the original investor who continued throughout the programme.

Richard’s work outside television has focused on entrepreneurship education and business support. The School for Startups name therefore points to his role as a mentor and founder, rather than to one of the retail or hospitality ventures associated with other early Dragons.
