Which organization organizes New York Fashion Week?

The story behind the answer

The Council of Fashion Designers of America organizes New York Fashion Week.

The CFDA is an American nonprofit trade organization representing leading fashion designers. It manages the official New York Fashion Week schedule and supports the broader American fashion industry through programs, awards and professional initiatives.

New York Fashion Week is a seasonal series rather than one permanent venue. Shows and presentations take place in different locations across New York, and participating brands may also stage independent events outside the official schedule.

The CFDA should not be confused with the British Fashion Council, which is associated with London Fashion Week, or Italy’s Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which oversees Milan’s main fashion calendar. Those bodies perform comparable national-industry roles in different fashion capitals.
