The Cuckoo’s Calling
Answer
The Cuckoo’s Calling
The Cuckoo’s Calling begins J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series.
The novel introduces Cormoran Strike, a private detective and former Royal Military Police investigator living in London. Strike is hired to investigate the death of Lula Landry, a famous model whose death was officially judged to be suicide. His new temporary secretary, Robin Ellacott, becomes an important partner in the investigation.
The book was first published in 2013 under Rowling’s pseudonym Robert Galbraith. After the pseudonym was exposed, the novel became closely associated with Rowling and was reissued with her authorship acknowledged. Later installments expanded both the cases and the personal histories of Strike and Robin.
The title is sometimes mixed up with The Silkworm, which is the second novel in the series. Career of Evil follows as the third, while Lethal White is the fourth. The novels have also been adapted for television as Strike.
