Which North American country has the highest nominal GDP per capita?

The story behind the answer

The United States has the highest nominal GDP per capita among North American countries.

Nominal GDP per capita divides a country's economic output by its population and expresses the result using current market exchange rates, usually in U.S. dollars. On recent international estimates, the United States ranks above Canada, the Bahamas, and Mexico on this measure.

This is not the same as total GDP: the United States also has North America's largest overall economy, but its per-person ranking reflects both its very large output and its population. Nor is nominal GDP per capita a direct measure of household wealth or living standards.

Rankings can change from year to year because exchange rates, population estimates, and revised GDP data change. Purchasing-power-parity rankings can also differ because they adjust for local price levels; this question specifically asks for nominal GDP per capita.
