“Serena Joy” was the non-album song named after a character from The Handmaid’s Tale in Olivia Rodrigo’s 2026 era. It was one of six additional songs considered during the album process but left off the final track list.
The title refers to Serena Joy Waterford, a major character in Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Rodrigo’s song was described as a pop and post-punk track, giving it a distinct identity from the 13 songs selected for the album.
“Serena Joy” was later released as a non-album single in August 2026, first on CD and later digitally. It should not be confused with “Never Do,” the bonus track added to the album edition.
