Answer
Kazuo Ishiguro
Answer
Kazuo Ishiguro
Kazuo Ishiguro won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature and wrote Never Let Me Go.
Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954 and moved with his family to Britain in 1960. His novels often use restrained first-person narrators whose memories gradually reveal regret, self-deception, and moral uncertainty. Never Let Me Go, published in 2005, combines a coming-of-age story with speculative fiction and questions about science, dignity, friendship, and exploitation.
The Swedish Academy recognized Ishiguro for novels of great emotional force that uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world. He also wrote The Remains of the Day, which won the 1989 Booker Prize. Ishiguro is sometimes confused with Haruki Murakami, another Japanese-born novelist writing internationally in English translation, but Murakami has not won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
