Which Nintendo Switch model has a 6.2-inch LCD screen?

The story behind the answer

The original Nintendo Switch has a 6.2-inch LCD screen.

Nintendo launched this model in 2017 with a capacitive touchscreen measuring 6.2 inches diagonally. The panel uses LCD technology and displays handheld games at 1280 by 720 pixels. The screen is positioned between detachable Joy-Con controllers and can be used independently from a television when the console is undocked.

The size is a useful way to distinguish the original model from the other Switch systems. The Switch Lite has a smaller 5.5-inch LCD screen, while the Switch OLED Model has a larger 7-inch OLED screen. Screen size does not by itself determine a game’s rendering resolution.

The original Switch’s screen should also not be confused with the display of the Nintendo Switch dock. The dock has no screen; it transfers the console’s video output to a television.
