What is the name of the Nintendo Switch game that first introduced the crossover strategy series Mario + Rabbids?

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle first introduced the Mario + Rabbids crossover strategy series on Nintendo Switch.

Ubisoft developed and published the game, which launched in August 2017. It combines characters and settings from Nintendo’s Mario universe with Ubisoft’s Rabbids in a turn-based tactical adventure. The playable group includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rabbid versions of several characters, and other allies encountered during the campaign.

Battles take place on grid-based arenas, but movement uses a flexible system of dashes, team jumps, pipes, and cover. Players also manage weapons and skill upgrades, giving the game a different structure from a conventional platforming Mario title.

The sequel, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, followed in 2022. It expanded the series with a more open exploration structure and the Sparks companions. Because both games share the crossover branding, the subtitle Kingdom Battle identifies the original Switch entry.
