New Pokémon Snap introduced the Lental region and its photography-based adventure on Nintendo Switch.
Released on April 30, 2021, New Pokémon Snap is a follow-up to Pokémon Snap, which originally appeared on Nintendo 64 in 1999. Players ride through courses in an on-rails vehicle and photograph wild Pokémon rather than capturing them in Poké Balls.
Professor Mirror evaluates the photographs, while the player studies Pokémon behavior in forests, deserts, underwater areas, and other environments. The Lental region’s Illumina phenomenon causes certain Pokémon and plants to glow, giving the game its central research mystery.
The title is not a remake of the Nintendo 64 game. It is a new adventure with new courses, species, research systems, and online photo-sharing features, while retaining the original photography concept.
