Which NHL team was originally known as the 'Mighty Ducks of Anaheim'?

The story behind the answer

The NHL team originally known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim is now the Anaheim Ducks.

The franchise entered the NHL as an expansion team for the 1993–94 season. The Walt Disney Company owned the club and named it after The Mighty Ducks, a 1992 Disney film about a struggling youth hockey team. The name was an unusual example of a professional sports franchise being created directly from a movie property.

The team kept the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim name through the 2005–06 season. After Henry and Susan Samueli purchased the franchise from Disney in 2005, the club shortened its name to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006–07 season. The rebrand also introduced a new color scheme and a logo centered on a webbed foot forming a “D.”

The change did not erase the earlier identity. The original duck-mask logo remains popular with fans and has appeared on throwback uniforms. The Ducks won their first Stanley Cup in 2007, their first season under the shorter name, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games.
