Which NHL team plays its home games in Edmonton?
Answer
Edmonton Oilers
Answer
Edmonton Oilers
The NHL team that plays its home games in Edmonton is the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers joined the NHL in 1979 when the league absorbed four teams from the World Hockey Association. They play at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, after moving there from Northlands Coliseum in 2016. Edmonton is one of the NHL’s Canadian franchises and competes in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.
The team became famous during the 1980s, winning five Stanley Cups between 1984 and 1990. Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri and Paul Coffey led that era. A common mix-up is confusing the Oilers with the Calgary Flames: both are Alberta teams, but the Flames play in Calgary, while the Oilers represent Edmonton. The Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks are also Western Canadian teams, but neither plays its home games in Edmonton.
