Which NHL team is an Original Six team from Chicago?

The story behind the answer

The Chicago Blackhawks are the NHL's Original Six team from Chicago.

The franchise joined the NHL in 1926 and was one of the six clubs that made up the league from 1942 until the major expansion of 1967. The other Original Six teams are the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The team was originally styled the Chicago Black Hawks, using two words, and officially adopted the single-word “Blackhawks” spelling after the 1985–86 season. Its name refers to Black Hawk, the Sauk leader whose history is closely associated with Illinois.

The Blackhawks have won six Stanley Cups, including championships in 1934, 1938, 1961, 2010, 2013, and 2015. They play at the United Center, which they share with the NBA's Chicago Bulls. The Cubs and Bulls are Chicago teams, but neither plays in the NHL; the Chicago Wolves are a professional hockey team outside the NHL.
