Which New York Fashion Week venue became famous for hosting shows from 1993?
Answer
Bryant Park
Answer
Bryant Park
Bryant Park became famous as a New York Fashion Week venue from 1993.
The move to Bryant Park helped create the concentrated, tent-based format that many people associate with New York’s fashion calendar. Shows were staged in temporary structures near the park, making the presentations easier for editors, buyers and photographers to attend.
The arrangement continued for many years and became a defining visual feature of New York Fashion Week. In 2010, the main shows moved to Lincoln Center, ending the Bryant Park era.
Bryant Park should not be confused with the original 1943 Press Week venues or with the later Spring Studios location. The park was a major mid-period home, not the birthplace of New York’s fashion week.
