Which New York art gallery, opened in 1908, first exhibited Georgia O'Keeffe's drawings?

The story behind the answer

The New York art gallery 291 first exhibited Georgia O'Keeffe's drawings in 1916.

The gallery was founded and run by Alfred Stieglitz, who named it after its address at 291 Fifth Avenue. It originally operated as the Little Galleries of the Photo-Secession before becoming known simply as 291. The space became a major center for avant-garde photography and modern art.

Anita Pollitzer showed O'Keeffe's charcoal drawings to Stieglitz, who exhibited them at 291 without first contacting O'Keeffe. Their presentation introduced her work to New York's art world and began her long association with Stieglitz.

291 is often confused with Stieglitz's later galleries, the Intimate Gallery and An American Place. Those were different venues that he operated after 291 closed in 1917.
