Which New Mexico town contained Georgia O'Keeffe's second principal home?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiu contained Georgia O'Keeffe's second principal home, the house and studio she restored in New Mexico. The property became one of the places most closely connected with her mature artistic life.

O'Keeffe purchased the abandoned hacienda in Abiquiu in 1945 and spent years having it repaired. She moved into the restored house in 1949, the same year she permanently relocated to New Mexico. Its courtyard, door, walls, and surrounding landscape appeared repeatedly in her work.

The home is distinct from her residence at Ghost Ranch, which was a separate property north of Abiquiu. O'Keeffe also maintained a house at Ghost Ranch, while the Abiquiu house became an especially important year-round base and studio.

The Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio is now preserved and interpreted through tours. The famous black door in the compound inspired several paintings, making the house both a personal residence and a source of carefully observed visual motifs.
