Which New Mexico community became Georgia O'Keeffe's home and studio after she moved there permanently?

The story behind the answer

Abiquiú became Georgia O'Keeffe's New Mexico home and studio after she moved there permanently.

O'Keeffe moved permanently to New Mexico in 1949, following Alfred Stieglitz's death. She had already spent many summers working in the state and had developed a strong connection to its landscape. In Abiquiú, she restored and lived in a historic adobe house that included a studio and a distinctive courtyard wall with a door.

The Abiquiú house became one of the physical sources for her paintings. She repeatedly studied the wall, doorway, and surrounding forms, turning ordinary architectural details into carefully balanced compositions. The house also provided a stable base near the landscapes that occupied her later work.

O'Keeffe is often associated generally with Santa Fe or with Ghost Ranch, so those names can be confused with Abiquiú. Ghost Ranch was another important residence and source of imagery, but Abiquiú was the community where her restored adobe home and studio were located.
