What was Georgia O'Keeffe's first formally trained art school?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's first formally trained art school was the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

She attended the school from 1905 to 1906, studying traditional academic art. The program emphasized drawing and painting from models and established artistic methods. This was the first of several stages in her formal education.

O'Keeffe later studied at the Art Students League of New York, where she won a scholarship and learned under William Merritt Chase. She also attended the University of Virginia's summer sessions and studied at Columbia University Teachers College.

Her later work moved far beyond the academic style of her earliest training. Even so, the Chicago school provided a foundation in observation, composition, and technique. It is sometimes confused with the Art Students League because both institutions were important in her education, but Chicago came first.
