Which national flag is the only one featuring a modern firearm?

Mozambique’s national flag is the only national flag featuring a modern firearm, specifically an AK-47 rifle.

The rifle appears diagonally across a yellow star, crossed with a hoe and overlaid by an open book. These elements represent defense, agriculture, and education. The rifle symbolizes vigilance and defense, reflecting the country’s liberation struggle and the importance assigned to national security after independence.

Mozambique adopted its current flag on 1 May 1983. The design is based on the flag of the Mozambique Liberation Front, or FRELIMO, which led the independence movement. The rifle is sometimes incorrectly identified as a generic machine gun; it is specifically an AK-47 in the flag’s commonly documented description.
