Which nation was the first to win the FIFA World Cup three times?

The story behind the answer

Brazil was the first nation to win the FIFA World Cup three times.

Brazil reached its third title by winning the 1970 tournament in Mexico. In the final at the Estadio Azteca on 21 June, Brazil defeated Italy 4–1. Pelé opened the scoring, and goals from Gérson, Jairzinho and Carlos Alberto completed the victory after Roberto Boninsegna had equalized for Italy.

Brazil had already won in 1958 and 1962. Under coach Mário Zagallo, the 1970 team became the first country to keep the Jules Rimet Trophy permanently under the rules then in force, which awarded it to the first three-time champion.

Brazil later won in 1994 and 2002, reaching five titles overall. The original Jules Rimet Trophy was stolen in Brazil in 1983 and was never recovered, so the modern FIFA World Cup Trophy is a different object.
