France defeated Croatia 4–2 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.
The match was played on 15 July 2018 at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. France took the lead through an own goal by Mario Mandžukić, while Ivan Perišić equalized for Croatia. Antoine Griezmann restored France’s lead with a penalty before halftime.
Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé extended France’s advantage after the break. Mandžukić scored Croatia’s second goal, but France held on to win its second World Cup. The six-goal match was the highest-scoring World Cup final since 1966.
Croatia had reached its first World Cup final. France’s victory made coach Didier Deschamps only the third person to win the tournament as both a player and a coach, after Mário Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer.
