Which NASCAR legend was nicknamed 'The Intimidator'?
Answer
Dale Earnhardt
Answer
Dale Earnhardt
Dale Earnhardt was the NASCAR legend nicknamed “The Intimidator.” The aggressive American stock-car driver built the reputation during a career defined by hard racing, relentless competition and seven premier-series championships.
Earnhardt drove the famous No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing and became one of NASCAR’s most recognizable figures. His intimidating style was especially associated with his ability to pressure rivals, run close to other cars and make decisive moves without backing away.
The nickname became prominent around the 1987 Winston All-Star Race. Earnhardt’s dramatic “Pass in the Grass,” in which he kept control after being forced onto the infield grass, helped cement the image. He was also known as “Ironhead” and “the Man in Black.”
Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 in 1998, completing one of the sport’s most celebrated victories. He died in a crash on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. After his son entered NASCAR, the elder driver was commonly distinguished as Dale Earnhardt Sr.
