Which Narnia book was the final volume published by C.S. Lewis?
Answer
The Last Battle
Answer
The Last Battle
The Last Battle was the final Narnia book published by C.S. Lewis.
It appeared in 1956 and concludes The Chronicles of Narnia. The story centers on a false Aslan, political deception, and the final conflict that brings Narnia’s earthly history to an end. The book won the Carnegie Medal in 1957, one of Britain’s leading awards for children’s literature.
The Last Battle was the seventh Narnia volume released. Lewis had already published The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, and The Magician’s Nephew.
The publication order differs from the commonly used chronological reading order. The Last Battle remains last in both systems because it depicts the final events in Narnia. Its ending has generated extensive discussion about symbolism, judgment, and the relationship between Narnia and its own fictional history.
