Smearguru is the named Smeargle character known for exceptional painting in Pokémon Pokopia.
Smearguru is one of several special Pokémon encountered as Ditto restores habitats. The character is based on Smeargle, the Painter Pokémon, and the name highlights the character's artistic role in the story.
Other named characters have different identities. Peakychu is a Pikachu that has lost its ability to generate electricity, DJ Rotom is a Rotom possessing a stereo system, and Chef Dente is a Greedent formerly belonging to a chef trainer.
These unusual characters give Pokopia's world a stronger sense of community. Rather than serving only as battle-party members, Pokémon have personal circumstances, occupations, talents, and relationships that players discover while rebuilding the environment.
