Ditto must learn Dive to explore underwater in Pokémon Pokopia.
The Dive ability was introduced in a free software update and lets Ditto move freely beneath the water. It is also central to reaching Bubbly Basin, the aquatic area included in Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass.
Players do not unlock Dive simply by purchasing the expansion. The game’s instructions require them to complete the important request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach. They also need the ability to jump and must already know Surf. These requirements distinguish Dive from the ordinary water-related moves seen elsewhere in the Pokémon series.
The update expands Pokopia’s exploration without changing the game’s broader focus. Underwater travel opens new routes, towns, characters, and decoration possibilities, while the player continues to restore environments and build a community. Dive is therefore both a movement ability and a gateway to the first expansion area.
