What special name does the Smeargle painter use in Pokémon Pokopia?

The exceptionally talented Smeargle painter in Pokémon Pokopia is called Smearguru.

Smearguru is a named Smeargle character recognized for unusual artistic skill. The nickname combines “Smeargle” with “guru,” suggesting an expert or master, and it identifies a particular character rather than changing the species into a new Pokémon.

Smeargle is known throughout the Pokémon series for its artistic theme and its tail, which it uses like a paintbrush. Pokopia develops that established idea into a character who is especially talented at painting. This fits the game’s broader approach of giving Pokémon individual roles and personalities while players rebuild their surroundings.

The name is easy to confuse with a title such as “artist Smeargle,” but the specific canonical nickname is Smearguru. As with other Pokopia characters, the playful name helps distinguish this individual from ordinary Smeargle encountered elsewhere in the Pokémon universe.
