Which move is the signature move of Mewtwo?

Psystrike is Mewtwo’s signature move.

Psystrike is a powerful Psychic-type attack closely associated with Mewtwo. Unlike ordinary Psychic-type moves, Psystrike calculates damage using the user’s Special Attack and the target’s Defense, allowing Mewtwo to exploit a physically weaker opponent even when the attack itself is special.

The move debuted alongside Mewtwo in the fifth-generation era. It became especially prominent through event-distributed Mewtwo and later appearances in games and spin-offs. Mewtwo can also use moves such as Psychic, Future Sight, and Psycho Cut, but those are shared with other Pokémon and are not its defining signature move.

Psystrike also connects to Mewtwo’s wider media identity. In Super Smash Bros., Mewtwo’s Final Smash uses Psystrike while it Mega Evolves into Mega Mewtwo Y. The move should not be confused with Psycho Break, its Japanese name, or Psyshock, a different Psychic-type attack with a similar damage mechanic.
