Which Mortal Kombat game introduced the Kreate-A-Fighter character creation mode?

The story behind the answer

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon introduced the Kreate-A-Fighter character creation mode.

Released in 2006, Armageddon was a large crossover entry that assembled nearly every major Mortal Kombat fighter available at the time. Its Kreate-A-Fighter feature allowed players to build an original combatant by selecting appearance details, clothing, fighting styles, weapons, and other attributes.

The mode expanded on the series’ interest in customization. Players could create characters that looked very different from the established roster, although the resulting fighters were still designed for Mortal Kombat’s combat system rather than for a separate role-playing game.

Armageddon also included the Konquest adventure mode and the racing minigame Motor Kombat. It is sometimes confused with Mortal Kombat: Deception because Deception also emphasized additional modes and customization, but Deception did not introduce Kreate-A-Fighter. Armageddon was the game that formally added this character-creation system.
