Which Mortal Kombat game introduced the guest character Kratos from God of War?

Mortal Kombat 9 introduced Kratos from God of War as a guest character.

The 2011 game, officially titled Mortal Kombat, featured Kratos as an exclusive playable guest character in its PlayStation 3 version. Kratos came from Sony’s God of War series and retained his chained blades, brutal combat style, and mythological visual design within Mortal Kombat’s fighting system.

The game is commonly called Mortal Kombat 9 because it serves as the ninth main installment, despite using the original series title. Its story retells and revises events from the first three games after Raiden sends a warning through time to his earlier self.

Kratos’ appearance helped establish the modern series’ practice of adding characters from other franchises. Mortal Kombat X later included guests such as Jason Voorhees and the Predator, while Mortal Kombat 11 featured figures including the Terminator, RoboCop, and Rambo. Those later guests should not be confused with Kratos’ PlayStation-exclusive debut.
