Which Mortal Kombat game introduced the Animality finishing move?

The story behind the answer

Mortal Kombat 3 introduced the Animality finishing move.

Animalities allowed a victorious fighter to transform into an animal and attack the defeated opponent. They were added to Mortal Kombat 3 as one of the game’s new finishing and gameplay features, alongside mechanics such as the Run button and chain combos.

The transformation varied by character, giving the finishing system a more fantastical tone than standard Fatalities. Players generally had to satisfy specific conditions before an Animality could be performed, making the move distinct from an immediately available finishing technique.

Animalities are sometimes mixed up with Babalities, which turn opponents into babies and became especially associated with later games. Mortal Kombat 3 was released in arcades in 1995 and introduced several new fighters, including Cyrax, Sektor, and Kabal.
