Which monster truck does driver Tom Meents pilot?
Answer
Maximum Destruction (Max-D)
Answer
Maximum Destruction (Max-D)
Tom Meents piloted Maximum Destruction, commonly known as Max-D.
Meents first drove the truck in 2000, when it was called Goldberg and was themed after the World Championship Wrestling wrestler. After WCW’s collapse, the truck became Team Meents in 2001–2002. It received the Maximum Destruction name and distinctive futuristic styling in 2003.
The truck became Meents’s signature machine. He won major Monster Jam championships with it, including racing titles in 2009, 2011, and 2012, freestyle titles in 2004, 2006, 2013, and 2022, and two-wheel-skills championships in 2019 and 2022.
A common mix-up is identifying Meents with Goldberg, because that was the truck’s original name and the vehicle he drove before Max-D. Bigfoot was created by Bob Chandler, while Grave Digger was created by Dennis Anderson. Meents announced his retirement after the 2024 season, ending a career that included more than two decades associated with Maximum Destruction.
