Baghdad is the primary setting of Assassin's Creed Mirage. The game follows Basim Ibn Ishaq in ninth-century Abbasid Baghdad, especially during the Islamic Golden Age.
Mirage is set in the year 861, when Baghdad was the capital of the Abbasid Caliphate and one of the world's major centers of scholarship, commerce, and culture. Basim begins as a street thief before joining the Hidden Ones.
The city is divided into districts including the Round City, Harbiyah, Abbasiyah, and Karkh. Historical figures and institutions are woven into the setting, while the main Assassin-Templar story remains fictional.
Mirage was released in 2023. Although it returns to a more focused stealth structure associated with earlier games, its setting should not be confused with Damascus in the first Assassin's Creed or Alexandria in Origins.
