Luke Keaschall nearly caught Kyle Schwarber’s second home run in the 2026 Field of Dreams Game.
Schwarber sent his second homer toward the right-field wall several innings after his opening blast. Keaschall tracked the ball, reached it with his glove and briefly appeared to have a chance to make the catch.
The ball was not secured, however, and it landed beyond the wooden fence in the corn. The play therefore became a home run rather than a spectacular outfield catch, giving Schwarber his second homer of the night.
The moment illustrated one unusual feature of the Iowa ballpark: the outfield fence bordered a cornfield, echoing the visual language of the movie. A ball disappearing into the corn was a distinctive part of the event rather than a normal feature of a major-league stadium.
