Mega Man 3 is the Mega Man game that features the Doc Robot enemies.

After defeating Mega Man 3’s eight new Robot Masters, players revisit four earlier stages for a second set of battles. These stages contain eight Doc Robot encounters, with two appearing in each revisited level. Rather than being ordinary enemies, the Doc Robots replicate the abilities and attack patterns of the Robot Masters from Mega Man 2.

This structure is easy to confuse with a traditional boss-rematch sequence. The game uses the same Doc Robot design while changing the combat behavior to represent different Mega Man 2 bosses, including Metal Man, Quick Man, Air Man, and Crash Man. Defeating them does not award new weapons; the reward is progression toward the next part of the story.

The Doc Robot stages are one of Mega Man 3’s major innovations. They add a bridge between the initial Robot Master campaign and Dr. Wily’s fortress, while also revisiting ideas from the previous game. Mega Man 3 also introduced Rush, the slide maneuver, and Proto Man, first disguised as Break Man.
