Which 1993 Super NES game began the Mega Man X sub-series?
Answer
Mega Man X
Answer
Mega Man X
Mega Man X began the Mega Man X sub-series in 1993 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Developed and published by Capcom, it was released in Japan as Rockman X for the Super Famicom on December 17, 1993, with North American SNES releases following in 1994. It was the first Mega Man game designed for the 16-bit console and spun off from the earlier NES series.
The game introduced X, a more advanced robot hero, along with Zero, wall-climbing, a ground dash, and armor upgrades. These additions expanded the familiar run-and-gun platforming formula while retaining selectable stages and boss weapons.
A common mix-up is treating the “X” as a Roman numeral meaning Mega Man 10. It instead identifies a separate sub-series. Mega Man X2 followed in 1994, while the original was later ported to computers, collections, and modern consoles.
